Presentation Title: “Sustainable Infrastructure Developments”

Eugene Vogel is currently Development Director of Summit Global Power Ltd. (‘SGP’, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation, Japan) and responsible for development of Power and Water related Infrastructure Projects across Middle East, Africa, Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States (‘CIS’) and South Asia.

He has acquired more than 20 years’ experience in the Infrastructure Business, in all stages of the value chain. This includes experiences in gas turbine engineering, commissioning, project execution, sales/marketing, project financing as well as in project development/equity investment/divestments (of power/water and social infrastructure projects).

In his current role, he was responsible for the development of the Hamriyah 1,800 MW IPP in the Emirate of Sharjah and has been working on numerous other greenfield and acquisition Projects throughout the region including but not limited to the Az-Azour North II 2,000 MW IWPP in Kuwait, Al Dur II 1,500 MW IWPP in Bahrain and Fujairah F3 2,400 MW IPP in the UAE.

In previous roles he has been engaged in key transactions in Africa, Europe, Middle-East as well as in Asia-Pacific. While working in the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (‘TAQA’) he led numerous transactions in Iraq, Morocco, US and Egypt involving acquisitions, disposals and greenfield developments. Before joining TAQA, he worked for over 15 years in different roles within Siemens AG involving many power transactions in Morocco, Australia, Italy, Iran, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Germany, UK, South Korea and Thailand.

As an experienced power generation professional with extensive international experience in power industry management and proven strengths in originating, structuring and leading projects he contributedover the span of his career close to 15-20 GW of power plant related business worldwide (new equipment, service or investments).

He started his career as Gas Turbine EngineerinSiemens AG after completing his Master in Material Science and Engineering from Polytech Grenoble (France) and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (‘KIT’) of Germany. During his studies he worked in Bayer AG, Daimler-Benz Aerospace and the Fraunhofer Institute in technical and development roles.
